In an age of ephemeral celebrity-worship and incessant hype in the world of sport, Anand stands, solitary and tall, on a summit that no other Indian sportsperson is going to reach in a long while.
So true!

…for winning the Asia Cup. Mind and body, heart and soul. Ooh aa India. Men in blue win. Yay!!!! Did anyone from chennai watch this match? Should have been worth it! Wonderful performance to beat Korea 7-2. Way to go guys! The rediff comment section for this news item is going to be fun
Oops. They have already started. With comments like ‘Shah rukh should be on the podium’ :O Ada paavingaLa!
This guy has beaten Roddick, Nadal and Federer in one single tournament. Unbelievable. Hope he is consistent enough. We might get to see good matches apart from the ones of Federer-Nadal.
Super start for Chelsea. It would be interesting to see how they play against top teams. Someone tell Mourinho to do away with Glen Johnson please. He doesn’t know to defend
And finally, debate has started? Sachin is old, Dravid is negative in approach blah blah? I liked the scenes after Kumble’s century. It was very nice.
I think it would be better if Cricinfo sticks just to the commentary, and stop trying to be funny. Its so refreshing to read BBC’s commentary than that of Cricinfo. Silly guys.
Do you watch this programme in DD Podhigai? Dr. Sumanth Raman is really good. Worth watching every week.
…was the event with the worst ‘Risk Mitigation Strategy’. Absolutely stupid. God knows why they did not schedule any match last Sunday. And, why the interrupted matches started much later than fresh matches. It resulted in so many players getting injured and losing the steam. Really stupid!
Looks like ESPN-Star group is coming up with a new channel called ‘Star Cricket’. Very good. Hope we get to see other sports, uninterrupted, in the other two.
I always like watching Wimbledon on the first day. Mainly for the undisturbed grass court. After a few days, white patches appear near the baseline and it doesn’t look that great.
Matches to look forward today
Roger Federer vs Teimuraz Gabashvili –> Around 17.30 IST
(After this match, we have Moya vs Henman)
Court 1
Roddick plays first followed by Henin. Then James Blake takes on Igor Andreev. Andreev has been playing well this season.
Court 2
M Hingis vs Naomi Cavaday(16.30 IST). And in the last match Vince Spadea takes on Ivan Ljubicic.
Well, Star Sports telecasts only matches on these courts. There are many more interesting matches like the Benjamin Becker one, but am not sure if they will be shown live. And yes, this is wimbledon. Can we have some Serve and Volley please?
A team which is world famous for its cheating, and has the most successful chucker in the history of cricket is calling someone as a cheat. Ha ha ha.

Popular Asian tennis stars seem to be jagadjaala killadis ![]()
Yes thats how the tennis court is going to look like, for a match between Federer and Nadal.
Federer and Nadal will go head-to-head in Mallorca on 2 May on a court that is clay at one end and grass at the other.
“It might seem crazy, especially at this time of the season, but we enjoy playing tennis for fun,” Federer said.
I sincerely hope ESPN or Star or Ten Sports or Zee sports, telecasts this match. It doesnt matter who telecasts this match as long as they show it ![]()
…here.
Actually once I was on this train in India. One elderly gentleman sat next to me and started talking to me.
“He asked what I did. I said I am a chess player. The man was not convinced. He said ‘yes but what do you do. Does your father own a business?’ I said no, I play chess. After 10 minutes the man looked me straight in the face and said ‘All this chess is very nice if you can be Viswanathan Anand but you, I am not sure’.”
“After that I couldn’t get to tell the guy who I was but somehow I realised I was onto something.”
One of the reason I still read rediff, is this. At times they link to good articles, which you might have missed otherwise
