thanimayil inimai kaaNa mudiyume

Staying alone is not new for me. Initially I was supposed to stay in a hotel, since the trip is for just 2 weeks. But I requested my company to arrange a flat for me, so that I can cook my own food. And they had arranged a wonderful 3 bedroom apartment, which I was supposed to share with 2 other colleagues.

But due to some change in plans, they will not be here in Sweden for the next 2 weeks. The apartment is extremely good, except for the fact that there is no telephone or internet. So once am outside office, am cut off. In a way thatÒ€ℒs good πŸ™‚
Yesterday evening I started a bit late from office, and by the time I reached the bus stop it was empty. And there was not a single soul on the road. It was hardly 17.15 and I was quite surprised.
Even more surprising was the fact that, the bus which I took was empty, except for the driver of course. Well I have never traveled in an empty bus and it was a different feeling. After sometime I went to the last seat and sat right in the middle, with both arms outstretched. Aah. I felt very special πŸ˜› The journey lasted for about 30 minutes or so, but it was quite an experience.
And to my surprise again, I did not meet a single soul till I reached the apartment. One of those days eh? Guess in Bangalore I was staying alone, and here am living alone πŸ˜‰ Life is good, I tell you.

  1. No wonder. I had the same feeling when i was in Munich a week ago. I think partly it is because of the cold weather added with the rain i guess. Unlike India with its humongous populace. Enjoy your stay and don’t forget to post more pics of this amazingly desolate place πŸ™‚

  2. Murugavel,
Sure. I will try to take some more photos this weekend πŸ™‚

    Ha ha!

This is a new apartment. And its quite tough to get a net connection just for 2 weeks πŸ˜‰ Ofcourse I can take the notebook and walk to a nearby mall which has wifi. But no mood to put in that much effort πŸ˜€

  4. LOL ;–) Nice post.
But this solitude sometimes gets to you. Its nice for a few days, but months of bitter cold, and empty buses, not meeting a single soul on the road, really gets to you ;–( Been there, felt that.

    amazing pictures :–) Enna camera?

  5. thanimaiyil inimai irukkattum – last time itself you said you will taste the smorgasbord and let me know but you didnot.
Just to tickle your memory – forty years ago when the Airlines applied self-control and said they will keep down the meal schedule to a minimum of sandwiches, and sell lunch packets at a price – everyone agreed. Scadinavian Airlines said they will also adhere to this policy and said they will serve their smorgasbord sandwich.

It turned out that this sandwich is a huge one and a meal by itself, and proved to be a disadvantage of other airlines.

Good pictures and let us have the travelogue in detail later!

  6. Not a single soul in those 17 photos! What a change from Bangalore for you! Just the right place to be for you for the next 2-3 weeks. But only or 2-3 weeks and not more as it could get depressing if that weather and solitude continues!

Office liyum nee mattum dhaan or do you see people? πŸ™‚
The next time you see any life there, snap it , post it here with the title ‘Life spotted in Goteborg’ πŸ™‚

  7. nice snaps.i’m starting to believe that even “people” should b considered as litter sometimes ;-). The roads look better without them.

  9. Hey, stunning pictures. Looks like it must have rained just before you took them. Conveys the beauty and the desolateness really well.

LOL@empty bus. Must have made it feel like your personal vahanam. I remember one of the times it happened to me in the US – the driver actually changed his route to drop me at the doorstep of my destination! πŸ˜€
