Passport Service Kendra

Its quite an experience to renew your passport, through this Passport Service Kendra. They have a website, where you can register, fill in an online form (Spans across multiple pages and timeouts) and then upload documents. Thats the easier part

Tough things are

1. Getting an appointment(Minimum 1 month waiting time).
2. In case you do not have an appointment, you have to go and stand in line. There are 2 lines, 1 for online applicants called as ‘Priority Queue’ and 1 for general applicants. Now, nowhere they mention that only 50 applicants per day from the online applicant list are given a token on first come first serve basis. Once you stand in line for 3 to 4 hours, this information will be known to one by experience. Wont it be simple if they just count 50 and ask the remaining to try next day or later? Why make more people wait, when there is a fixed number of slots? I really fail to understand the meaning of ‘Priority’.
3. In case you are lucky and get inside, and if there are some issues with your documentation you need to follow procedure 1 and 2 again.

I do not think these are teething issues. It is lack of common sense. If they can put up the rules clearly on their website, and also on notice boards it will solve most of the troubles.

I really wonder who gave the idea to try out Bengaluru as a city for trying this so called Pilot.
