1. I have been using this Binary watch for quite some time, and its really cool. Next, I want to go for a bluetooth watch. Is there any alternative to this sony ericsson bluetooth watch? I would prefer a watch without an analog or digital dial ![]()
2. Did anyone of you manage to download skyfire? I would like to see if it supports tamil fonts. None of the mobile browsers seem to
The iphone browser has the same problem that firefox by default has
Atleast firefox has a patch.
3. Why on earth are people excited about iPhone? I find HTC far better than iPhone. Typing in iPhone is hell. I tried a demo version for couple of days, and I didn’t like it. Touchscreen is fun for sometime. Beyond that you get bored with it. I wish Nokia introduces a version of N810 with mobile and 3G features. That suits my requirements perfectly ![]()
4. 3G is really good. For GPS, internet radio, youtube, fring and so many other things. I hope we get it in India really soon, now that the government has initiated some steps. Nokia maps rocks, by the way!
5. Does anyone know if any television company has launched a LCD TV compatible with an USB port? I heard Philips has a USB compatible DVD player. But the problem I heard, from my friends, is that it plays only audio. And jpegs. No divx
I see that there are some LCD monitors enabled with USB but I am not sure if they can play DivX videos.
6. Has anyone used Pinnacle’s USB TV receiver? Does it make sense to have one in India?

Prabhu,
I have the he phillips DVD player you have mentioned..its plays divx also through USB..the only issue is that it has to be a flash memory and not an external hard disk..
you can connect a pen drive and play movies but not an external hard drive
if its a dvd rip, it even picks up the .srt file and includes the sub title also

im having philips dvd player… I supports divx files.. i have connected both pendrive and WD external hard disk and played movies… It really rocks…Quality of the movie will be very nice when played from a pendrive…
Too much hype is given to iphone which don’t even have a bluetooth in it… Im also not comfortable typing msgs in the touch screen…

I’m surprised you don’t like the input method of the iphone. Its by far and away the best input method on a touchscreen phone i’ve ever used. beats using a stylus. otherwise i do agree that other phones do offer better features.
I haven’t seen it in India, but abroad, both philips and samsung TV’s I’ve seen with USB ports, I think. as for the philips DVD player.. yes, the USB works with video too, as many people have said. plays all compatible files off flash memory. it might be usb 1.1 so.. so watch out for that.
Also, with LCD monitors, sometimes, “USB Support” or the presence of a usb port.. might just be a USB hub. so .. check that out properly.
as for the USB TV receiver.. i haven’t used it, but what do you mean, does it make sense? It does make sense if you wanna record tv or watch it on your desktop/notebook.
its ideally for notebooks, i would think.
:)
I’ve been reading your blogs for a long time, and i enjoy it very much. just that i don’t find much to contribute about, often..
Cheers.

long time reader, first time commenter. Have the iphone 3g and personally think this the biggest tech innovation in the last couple of years. 3G, GPS, app store, safari you can’t ask for more. Nokia, Motorola and whole lot of others have been making cell phones for years. Amazing that Apple in their very first version stole a big share of the market.

I want to connect USB port/pen drive to a dvd player. The DVD player (Pioneer) does not have in-built USB port. Is it possible to connect thru any other means. Please advise.
Thanx
