Last time I was in Sweden, it was quite cold to venture anywhere in Scandinavia. So, me and a group of my friends were looking at places in and around Spain or France where it was much better at that time of the year. At that time, we came across a very good deal from Ryanair. Return trip to Marseille, France from Gothenburg was 500 SEK (Around 3000 Rs). Best part was that the flight left Gothenburg on a friday at 7.30 PM and in return, reached Gothenburg by 7 PM on the sunday. What more can one ask?

Marseille is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. Maybe be because Blue is one of my favorite colors or because of the warm climate. This city has quite a rich history and there are lots of tourist spots one can visit. Two days was not enough to cover all, so we tried to see as much we could.

Some of the places I really liked are Viuex Port (This is the at the heart of the city), Notre Dame de la Garde and the walk along Corniche.

Notre Dame la Garde is an architectural marvel, and it looks different at different times of the day based on the sun light and looks even more gorgeous at night! The place is so beautiful that we spent close to 3 hours just here.

The view from the top is very good. One can hardly find trees inbetween the buildings and it looks cluttered from above. But still its quite charming.

Marseille is famous for lots of things. Food, football(Zidane, Drogba etc have played for Marseille), books ( ‘The count of Monte Cristo‘ , movies (The Bourne Identity, French connection, Devil wears Prada) etc. (All info from Wiki and the tourist guide).

The city transport is extremely good. Every part is connected by a metro rail, bus or boat, and you dont need a taxi at all. Do take the open top bus ride first, so that you get an idea of what all is there in the city. The open top bus ride starts from the Vieux Port and there is a bus every 1 hour or so. People at the tourist information centre, speak very good english and are extremely helpful. Contrary to what I heard, I found lots of english speaking people in Marseille

Before I realised, the weekend got over and we had to get back to Sweden. It was really good and we enjoyed every minute of the trip. If you get a chance, please do visit Marseille. Its very beautiful
And if you do go there, please walk along Corniche sometime in late afternoon or evening. The best part is the shallow waters of the mediterranean sea, which you can keep looking at for hours. The walk along Corniche was one of the moments I will cherish for a long time. Marseille is one city, I would want to visit again and again!

P.S. Canon wants 15 days to clean the camera sensor
