Dear NN,
My husband works in an IT company. On most of the days he picks me up from my office on the way, or somewhere nearby. The problem is he keeps wearing the ID card tag even after he is out of office. I have told him umpteen no of times to remove the tag, the moment he steps out of office. He just doesn’t seem to listen. I don’t want everyone on road to know what his name is or where he works. Any tips?

Dear CID Sakunthala,
I hope your husband drives a car from the way you describe. What you can do is talk very slowly to him. He would not be able to hear properly and ask you to repeat. You can pull his tag, drag him closer and then tell him bit loudly. And make fun of him for something or other, by regularly pulling his tag. He will definitely get out of this habit. And in case he is riding a 2 wheeler, you can pull his tag from behind and say ‘I feel like am driving a horse’ and giggle. But please be very careful. Pull it gently and for few cm’s only. Otherwise you might end up risking his and your life. And when you go out to restaurants, you can ask your husband if you can have some crazy dish and then pull his tag in front of the waiter. He will be embarassed definitely. Trust me. It will work.

Good tips. Especially the riding a horse bit. NN seems to be getting inspired by the He She-s. Can easily turn this into a He She.
Nice, I had always wondered for so many days , why these guys are always with tag even @ 10 pm in front of Nayar chai shop.?
one more idea is making a same kind-a tag and tag it to Sakunthala’s dog…
hi prabhu,
on a serious note, i see this very often in the bangalore mail when people come to the railway station with their ID cards hanging around their neck. I even went and told a girl directly pointing out the reasons behind avoiding it.
hi p_f
agree with gai3
sure is muse for he-she!
nice one !
evvalavu sonnalum ketka matanga…ithula avangalukku perumai vera…kodumai
and agree with gayathri – enjoyed as much as he – she
Strange !.
I travel by train everyday to San Francisco. Here few people wear IDs’ openly.
Many companies here don’t even issue photo/name IDs’ . Just the plain RFID card which will flash your picture to security.
When I moved here, everytime I saw a pretty girl, tried to see if she is wearing an ID hoping to know her name and where she works
But seriously, I agree that its better not to wear the ID openly especially in India.
hahaha, I donno if it will help Mr. Sakuntala but it was a nice visual
)
i always forget to remove my ID once I get out of the company bus, have it on till I reach home. The one day I removed it, I lost it.
Now since I travel by public bus, cant afford to flash the tag…
Hi all
In India, it looks like a status symbol. If the company is good and well known, people like to show up. now -a-days you see a lot of lanyards around the neck – mobile, ipod, id card etc.
NN: Tips fro mme: Ask your hubby to start wearing the retractor. At least he would be embarassed whenever a soul looks down on under his belly
Status symbol?? As far as I have seen, people working in these companies are an unsatisfied lot. Given their want to run out of the company if a chance is given, I dont think they would like flashing their cards out of pride.
But I know of one excuse. (Coz, I myself have done it so many times). Since we end up wearing this early in the morning (7am) and come back home late in the night (9 PM), we forget that there is this extra accessory hanging on to our neck like a dog chain. Sometimes, I get cautious if I find someone giving a stare and then remember to remove it. Otherwise, it just hangs.
