You complete your tasks before time. Check the score on BBC. Vaidisova vs Ivanovic match has just started on Centre Court. You rush back home. Luckily not much traffic on road. There is no power cut nor is there a problem with the cable. With all anticipation you switch on the television. They telecast Hewitt vs Djokovic
Life is cruel, I tell you!
Update: You sulk and make a blog post. Star Sports guys switch to Vaidisova match, as the match has gone on to the 3rd set. Life is not that bad. Hope this match goes on and on ![]()

To be a little fair to those guys, I think the huge huge backlog due to the rains have messed up the televised scheduling. Vaidisova v Ivanovis would have been a better match for non-tennis reasons but I am glad that they showed some part of Djokovic-Hewitt match live. Best match of the evening.

Yeah, but the Hewitt vs Djokovic was also an awesome game!! rain is screwing up the schedule! They have the LIVE signal on and show recorded matches! gettin confused at times!! Cant wait for Federer vs Ferrero will be a class game as well!!
I like Ivanovic, she is cute and plays good tennis…. but i think its going to be Venus and henin for the title!!
cheers!!

Am I the only one to think that this post is not about tennis?
on 06 Jul 2007 at 12:07 pm # daneel olivaw
no chenthil, i am with you. and ferrari with the smiley at the end of the post.
just that women’s tennis for a long time has stopped being about the tennis, it’s more about the women dearie.
and vitriolic nithya echoed my sentiments exactly.

If all the hatred against Williams sisters is because you don’t like their style of play (powerplay), then it should be a case of sour grapes because your fav players could not stand up to their power. Remember, tennis is not a soft sport even for girls, anymore. If a player have the power and the skill isn’t good enough to make for the lack of power, he/she dont have a place in today’s top 20. Best example was Hingis. She was ruling the roost in women’s tennis when the Williams sisters came on the scene with their raw power and frankly she couldn’t stand up against their power despite her skills. The injuries didn’t help her either. But I don’t think she stood a chance with her style of play against such raw power.
If you are talking about grace, then you gotta accept that with tennis increasingly becoming a power sport with all those mighty racquets, grace is just an additional qualification which could gain some extra fans but means nothing for your game. But honestly, if lack of grace is the accusation against the Williams sisters, I’d be compelled to ask you back on whom you think are more graceful players (not by their looks) in current top 10. I don’t see Sharapova’s, Hantuchova’s game more graceful than the Williams sister in any way. Same baseline slugging with their vocal cords put to full use, double-handed backhands and nothing unique about them except their designer wear
If the hatred towards the Williams sisters is not for tennis reasons, then we are talking about ‘racism’ here. If you want to see more of Ivanovic, Kournikova, Sharapova , I can suggest a few fashion mags and websites they decorate more often where looks matters more.
If you think whose game is ladies top 10 qualifies to be called graceful, I can only think of Henin, Mauresmo, Jankovic (to an extent).
If you are thinking about fair play and what Serena did was unfair against Hantuchova, I have no reason to believe that you had better knowledge of her injury based on what you saw on TV than what the WTA trainer on the court knew about. Check out Serena’s fitting reply to Michael Stich. I loved that. Stich sure would know now what to say and what not to.
Thats my 2 cents in their defense when most of the folks seem to love to see them lose for no fair reason.
