Attention: Bangaloreans
Today, I happened to use the word ‘Goobe’ to one of my friends. I forgot that my friend doesn’t know Kannada(As if I know). My friend wanted to know what Goobe is? There is no fun if I explain what Goobe means. Can some bangalorean, explain about Goobe in detail please?

hmm….. I thought Goobe/Koobe was a tamil slang….. thought the word ‘koobe’ came frm ‘bekku’, kinda jumbling the syllables (putting the ‘ku’ part first n then ‘be’ part nxt)

Goobe actually means Owl.
But the slang means an idiot/fool.
Same as Ullu in hindi.

Did this Goobe originate from Koogai referred in Tamil Literatures? Remember the song which has only Ka’s in it..

Goobe can be used in tandem with Tharle for added effect…
Tharle means “Thale Kettovnu”(Cracked Head)…
Also, Tharle when written in Kannada looks like “Thale maddhilli Sonne…Adhakke Mele ondu Kombu”(There is a big Empty circle in the middle of the Head and a single Kombu-Horn on top of it)…

Anand’s description is right.
As quoted by Shhhhhh the words galeej & bejaar (urdu words) weren’t borrowed from Kannada but used by SuperStar of Tamilnadu Rajinikanth in his movies .
Since Tamilians have a urge for these kinds of words ,
Rajinikanth again used a well known folk poetry puzzle which was used in the movie Arunachalam . The song goes like this ” Maathaadu Maathaadu Mallige ” .
It still continues though Rajinikanth is in the Tamil film industry for more than 26 years he still speaks Tamil like Kannada ( Compared to Arjun Sarja , Murali & Prakash Rai )and no Tamizhan bothers it .
