Looks like Fabia’s performance is not that great, when compared to Swift diesel. Hmmmm. And the 1.2L petrol itself is going to cost more than 6 lakhs. Is it worth? :(

Ready reckoner for buying cow.

1. According to Tamil culture, the buyer and seller should hold hands. Rather fingers
2. Cover the hands with towel
3. Buyer catches finger of the seller. If he catches 3 fingers then 3000. 2 fingers, 2000 Rs. Or rather, in multiples of the no of fingers caught
4. Even the seller can catch the finger first

Now don’t ask me why I posted this. Information is wealth :P

Parssons Valley:
ParVal-64.jpg
Before traveling to Ooty I asked my friends on the places to see in and around Ooty. Rather the popular tourist attractions. Once I gathered that information, I decided that these places can be visited at a later stage in life, when I would be claiming the educational cess ;) Or better, when I don’t have the choice of places to visit: P

The main reason I chose Ooty was for this place called Parssons valley. Having heard from my friend Arun about this place, I didn’t want to miss it. When I mentioned this to the resort guys, they were bit surprised as no one goes there. Very good, I say! I hired a jeep since that’s the only vehicle that can go there.

You Fring? Me fring :D

Its a tool by which you can make voice calls using your mobile phone GPRS. As in, you can call your GTalk/Skype contacts using your GPRS connection. Pretty useful if your friends are abroad. Much cheaper than the international calls. Check it out ;)

Coonoor
Coonoor-7
Though I could have taken the train to Ooty directly, I decided to take a break at Coonoor. After a scenic journey I reached Coonoor at around 10.30 AM. My train to Ooty was at 16.30 hrs. I caught hold of one Rickshaw and struck a deal with him. He agreed to show me entire coonoor for 450 Rs in 5 hrs. First I went to a doctor nearby and got treated for the finger. He gave some medicines, so that there is no infection. By this time I had got used to the pain. Hmmm.

It has been quite sometime since I went somewhere. And I didn’t want to travel very far this time. So I finally settled for Ooty, even when people told me that the place is commercialized, and not that good. Is Ooty commercialized? Let us revisit that question at the end of this travelogue series.

Having decided that Ooty is the destination, I was pondering upon the approach route. I initially thought of going by bus directly from Bangalore to Ooty. And return in the same way. But then, I will miss the toy train journey from Mettupalayam to Ooty. On Thursday the 24th, I left for Coimbatore from Bangalore and from there, reached Mettupalayam by mid afternoon. The next day morning, I left for Coonoor from there. Though I had a waitlisted ticket, my friend used her influence and got me a seat right in the front.
