Have you kissed someone before?

Judge orders Gere’s arrest over that kiss, says Times Onlines. Yeah yeah that kiss ;) Why?

After examining video foot-age of the event, the judge said that the stars’ behaviour was “highly sexually erotic”, “transgressed all limits of vulgarity” and “denigrated” Indian culture and social values. He also noted that Shetty’s attitude had been “cooperative” towards Gere, who has already left the country.

I was really worried about my fellow Indians, who have kissed before. No one told them before that Kissing is ‘Highly sexually erotic’ :( What will they do now? Being a concerned citizen, I asked the mighty Madman about this. With his kind permission, I reproduce(Oops!) the conversation we had.

Me: Hey. Now what will happen to the people who kissed before? How can they get over the guilt trip?
Chef: I think they should do the right thing and voluntarily turn themselves over to the police. The judge maybe lenient while sentencing for the crime.

So, all of you who have kissed, march towards the police station and turn yourself in. Its illegal to kiss in India. In case you are about to kiss someone, do it behind a tree or cover your faces with an umbrella!

To reproduce(again!!) Alaipayuthey dialogue, andha judge pondaati paavam

  2. Anon says:

Again ,,Again …whenever you read something , read it completely..In our country kissing in “public” is illegal..You can argue that the old-dated law should be changed..But nothing wrong in the judge’s proposal for the arrest.

Its similar to this “creating obscene scenes in public is again illegal.” adhukaga…bathroomla kulikiravanga ellam police station ku march pani poga solvinga pola…

en judge pondati ellam vambuku ilukiringa..r u sayin that everybody who havenot kissed in public are paavam?

    romba thamasu panringa..

  3. Janet,
    :)

    Anon,
Yeah right. There are millions of laws. But there is also something called as common sense!

  4. Deepak says:

The new template is cool and easy on eyes

  5. Now the template is good after some color tweakings..

  6. sami says:

prabhu, this one is a nice template and better. the dynamic changing pics was good. why it is not there now?

  7. Radha says:

Can you justify Gere’s action? People wouldn’t have bothered much if they have kissed while having a cup of coffee or what so ever. But, this was in a public place , that also in AIDS awareness program in a conservative country.

  8. ramize_27 says:

oh come on.. then all those movies depicting kissing scenes so blatantly should be given Adult rating.. come on ppl.. grow up.. for that matter, it was a peck on the cheek (if i’m not wrong)..

  9. Somu says:

Have heard this somewhere… In the US it is illegal to piss in public, and in India it is illegal to kiss in public

  10. Anand says:

One: From when did a peck on the cheek become erotic ?!!?!

Two: I think “conservative” is the most abused word nowadays.

Three: And all those suckers who say we are a conservative country, please please read at least one chapter of Kamasutra. Only then will you know what kind of perverts our ancestors were (believe me, they were).

So all you buggers shut up and don’t overreact.

    Next Headline:
Kamal, Simbu and Emraan Hashmi retire from acting.

  12. The deep rooted hypocrisy of indian society just never ceases to amuse me. kamasutra came from us. we have historical caves and temples literally depicting fornication.and then we say we shld arrest gere!oh well, why not ban the kamasutra and close all tge temples too?and while we’re at it, let’s all follow madhya pradesh and ban sex ed in school!!

  13. Neha says:

    LOL!!!!

  14. randramble says:

As Gere himself admitted in a press release, he acted in ignorance of local culture. It’s another matter that the “local culture” is hypocritical…

Prabhu: I feel that the new template is too formal and doesn’t go well with the mood of your blog.

  15. Note, I did say Indian “society” , and not Indian “culture”.

  16. Neethi says:

Oh no…I didn’t do it just once..I did it multiple times..what do I do? Will I be arrested too? The next time I have the urge, I will follow your advice

  17. please note that there is enough “evidence” here of the crime. There is video footage people, not some guy saying “I saw them .. I saw them”

Saw what all the fuss was about in Sun TV news. The number of kissing scenes in movies is increasing exponentially on the one hand and then we have this hype over this!

the interesting thing is that the two people involved are in the movie business! so maybe they didnt see that as an abnormal thing!

Kissing in a public function or in a Movie, what difference does it make..I saw it on the same TV as some kind of programming!

  18. Merino says:

Oh good grief. If anyone should be having a problem with Richard Gere kissing is Shilpa Shetty. When she didn’t throw a tantrum or make a complaint about this, why in the world is everyone else poking their nose into this? Honestly now, are some Indian ppl that bored and have nothing better to do nowadays?

  19. Kavi says:

The judge and the so called ‘moral brigade’ are in their own world ! Perhaps with some kind of a time wrap or something. The rest of the world is going kissing !
