Actually, the support you show to your sporting teams irrespective of the fact that they represent your nation or not has nothing do with patriotism. Anybody can sport any team in the world sporting arena and not mix it with the patriotism you show for your country.
Patriotism should come in matters of LOC – Line Of Control and not in LOC- Love of Cricket (or any sport for that matter)
Honestly, I don’t think it matters to fans if the cricket team represents BCCI or the nation. They’ll still be supporting the same way. If you think that painting indian flags on bodies, faces and waving indian flags are signs of patriotism, wrong! They are just showing their support and using the indian tri-colour. After all waving a BCCI logo flag won’t make much sense
Its a good article. everybody knows that they are paid hefty to do what they have to. But since people add emotions to their performances, its natural for them to get carried away. Not so easy to change the mindset of an average indian.if educated people like us are the same at times, we cant expect the common man to change from the word go.
