Perarasu – Review

Now, I can proudly say that I have watched all the captain movies released in 2006. Yes, am talking about Perarasu.

Before getting into the movie plot, let me set the expectations. This is not a typical captain comedy movie. Unless and until, Captain talks in english you dont realise it is a captain movie. There are no punch dialogues, hair rising moments in this movie. Its a simple double action thick flick.

Captain looks more trim in this movie, than in dharmapuri. And have you seen anyone sweat on their cheeks? Captain does. Observe closely during climax. I was stunned to see sweat on his cheeks, whilst the face was otherwise clear. Hmmm. Another science mystery

Opening scene very simple. Captain gets down from a car. Extremely simple opening. And Pandiarajan is there in the movie. His english pronounciation is funnier than that of captain. Sample dialogue. ‘Pusthagam oru manidhanukku valliya snehidhan appadinu sexspeare solli irukaar’. That brings another question. Why are most police officers in tamil movies, malayalis?

Captain is a CBI officer ‘Kasi Viswanathan’ in this movie. Chinna vayasula, kasi viswanathan kovil la captain tholanju poiduvaaru. Later he becomes a CBI aapeesar. And when he is on his way to the police station, some rowdies will attack him. Immediately captain will enter the police station and ask ‘oviyam varaya oru white board appuram oru sketch ben kodunga’. Captain recalls the scene of fight and redraws the face of a local rowdy. Initially his face reaction suggested he is fantasizing something, but then he bewilders everyone by drawing the face of a rowdy.

Heroine tries to take her undergarment from captains car. Well. when she tries to take it from her house balcony, it falls on captains car. Captain feels very shy and says ‘indha chinna vishayathukaaga ennai disterb pannitiye’.

Captain wears goggles even inside the house. Especially when he is searching for evidence at rowdies house. ‘kiriminal(criminal) waste paper basket la dhaan police kku informason(information) kedaikkum’. What a brilliant CBI officer? And yeah, Perarasu is another Vijayakanth. He enters just before the interval.

Villain receives death threat. And police protection for him. One thing I dont get is why people who receive death threats in tamil movies drink alcohol and eat chicken, while watching TV. That too all alone. If someone is going to kill you, will you do all this?

And there is a guy who witnessed the murder. He wants to testify, but other police officers dont believe him. Captain believes him. Why? The informer swears on his harmonium. Captain says if someone is swearing on his profession, he will never lie. Captain tactees(tactics) you see

One more tactees of captain.If a guy is a kiriminal now, he would have been in kiriminal in young age as well. WOW

Captains dad is sarath babu. Mom soundarya :O atleast her photo is there. prakashraj, mansoor ali khan are villains. Sarath babu spits on them. Literally. So how a spit leads to killings and revenge is the story of Perarasu

Captain jumps from 4th floor coolly on top of a car. And then slowly gets down, like getting down from bed.

Captain sits in rickshaw and dances. unnai pethavala paatha oru kovile kattuvendi aatha is how the song goes. For the heroines body shake, captain moves his head accordingly.

Duplicate captain cheats original captain. And captain says ssiitt..(he means shit) . Captain is called as kaatumiraandi. Relax. No one has the guts except for other Vijayakanth

Only punch dialogue in the whole movie. ‘kappal kavurum bodhu captain mattum neendhi karai yeraradhu azhagu illai. Kadaisi varaikkum kappal la irukaravan dhaan uNmayaana Captain’

Somehow I feel, Dharmapuri should have released first followed by Perarasu. Consider this. Only 2 hrs 15 minutes. Genuine suspense till interval. Only 2 songs. (Only 1 captain duet). No comedian. Its close to be a perfect hollywood flick, I had mentioned in Dharmapuri review.
