At around 3 PM, a bus rammed into some people inbetween HAL Airport and Marathalli killing 2 and injuring around 19. The angry mob, burnt the bus and there was some tension. Traffic is being diverted in airport road.
Got to know this from a friend working for IBM, Domlur.

In case you are heading in that direction, take care. Try some alternate route, if possible!

Hi everyone,

Its nice to wish everyone for diwali. Simple words should do, instead of flashy jingbaang mails that are heavy in size thereby clogging the networks.

So, here, wishing you, your family and friends a email attachment less happy diwali.

The person who coined the English term Payee, surely doesn’t know tamil. Imagine a conversation in a bank

Customer: There seems to be a problem with this transaction
Bank officer: Who is the payee sir?
Customer: My husband/wife is the payee

He he :D And to make thinks interesting ICICI Bank portal, has a section called ‘Registered Payees’ :P

One of my top favorite chelsea player, Petr Cech is in the hospital. He underwent a skull surgery, after this Stephen Hunt of Reading recklessly collided with him :( And to make things worse, Cudicini was injured too!

Get well Cech and Cudicini! Best wishes for a speedy recovery to you and Cudicini, as well!

I guess all of us would have received(and continue to receive) numerous forwards on what friendship is via mail/sms etc. Mails which contain flowers, babies, kids, animals and all sorts of things on a bedsheet background. And add to it some message like ‘Never wait for tomorrow. Tell today, at this moment, what your friend means to you yada yada’. One thing these friendly guys and girls dont realise is that many people have different mail clients. As a result, the message appears in a crazy format and all the pictures etc as a separate attachment and makes things tough to comprehend. With the introduction of orkut, this friendship menace has increased. ‘Want to be friends?’ is the mantra of the day. Infact sources say that our Maharashtra chief minister received a sms ‘Want to be friends?’ from the North Korean foreign minister, and this has terrorized the government. Thats why they are thinking of banning orkut. Ok. Let me not deviate further.

Almost all these friendship messages have a single purpose. To define what friendship is. It is like those late 90/early 2000 vijay movies (For people who dont follow tamil movies, Vijay is a tamil movie actor. He started his career acting in soft porn movies, and later moved on to preaching on the screen. He happens to be my school senior as well. Leave that. In every movie, he will define what love is. Love is not employment exchange, love is not business, love is selfless etc).

Taking things further, from my experience of having so many friends(No, not girlfriend or boyfriend. Just friends) let me try to help mankind in defining what true friendship or who a true friend is.

*True friendship is when you dont send sms like ‘Whats up?’, ‘Where are you?’ ‘Howz you?’ ‘Busy?’ etc to your friends, who are on national/international roaming.
*True friendship is when you wait with salt and knife for a friend, who is stealing mangoes from the tree
*True friendship is when someone hands you a packet of surf excel, after leaning on your shoulder with their oily head.
*True friend is someone who hands you a rupee coin, when you want to check your weight.
*True friend is someone who gifts you a claypot, that you can use while watching Surya/Asin, Vishal/Trisha movies (Eco friendly drool pot)
*True friend is someone who doesnt wake you up from sleep, to wish you Good Night!
*True friend is someone who doesnt talk to you in the restroom.
*True friend is someone who doesnt drag you to Karan johar movies

Yeah, so thats what friendship is. Want to make friends? :P

Am not sure if any of you have heard the speeches of politicians in wedding reception, baby naming ceremony, hair cutting ceremony etc. They will start with abusing their political enemy and some chest beating on what they have achieved. And finally conclude the speech with ‘aagave naan kooRa varuvadhu ennavendraal, maNamagaNum maNapeNNum needuzhi vaazha veNdum‘(So what I am trying to say is that the bride and groom should lead a happy married life).

Following the tradition, here is my post wishing Kiran Desai on winning the booker prize.

Dear Kiran Desai,
On behalf of this blog, and people who shamelessly cut and paste articles from internet and send it to their friends without mentioning the source, I wish to congratulate you on winning the booker prize. Unlike the previous Indian lady who won the booker prize, please do not join the social activists or human rights club. There are enough members there, who create problems for our country. Please do not ask presidential pardon for Afzal Guru. Please do not ask for the army to be withdrawn from kashmir. Please do not stage a protest in busy roads of delhi and other indian cities disrupting the traffic and causing nuisance to the public. So, what I am trying to say is congratulations :D

Am really impressed with this Raj Travels guys. Last week I came from chennai by this bus only. The bus covers the distance of bangalore to chennai in 4.5 to 5 hrs.

But the things I liked are
1. Customer service. They sent a sms last week at around 6.30 PM saying the bus will be delayed by 15 minutes. The bus was at 11.30 PM, and got delayed by 15 minutes. And the bus was late by 15 minutes as they mentioned. Not earlier, not later. The driver/attendants were very polite during the journey.
2. They dont allow people to take heavy bags inside the bus. They put a baggage tag, similar to the ones in flights and give you the counterfoil. The bags are placed at the luggage storage section of the bus. In the morning, the attendant verifies your counterfoil and only then hands over the bag. And there is a baggage limit of 35 kgs as well.
3. Water bottle, and clean blankets. The blankets dont stink.
4. e-check in. You can check in through the web :D
5. Unlike KPN, you dont need to register in their site for booking the tickets. You can just enter your details, take a print out of the ticket and thats about it. (The user interface is similar to that of Kingfisher airlines)
6. The arm rest in between the sits are really wide. Two people can comfortably place their hands on the arm rest. You dont need to fight with the co passenger over the arm rest :P

Needless to say the journey was very comfortable. Check it out sometime. And do have a look at the 360 degree view of the bus in their site.
