Movie certainly is worth a watch, but i could not find a Kamal Haasan in the movie….It’s a Gowtham movie from start to finish, and Kamal’s performance stands out for the way he underplayed his character, except that he was shown pretty old (as the story demands it!!).

I too watched the movie in Bangalore.
According to me, too much violence.Second half is bit lengthy.Less role for Kamal,Jo and PrakashRaj.
A typical Gautam movie.
kamal fans can watch the movie.

This is my opinion on Vettaiyadu vilayadu,
These are my +ve(positive) comments on the movie.
1. A movie that can be watched with family, but stop there are some rape scenes, some voilence like cutting the finger from hand, cutting the neck and murder, some nude scene, but if u ask your family members to close their eyes for these scenes, then you can watch the movie with family. (Dont come back and say I had to close my eyes throughout the movie…i ca
nnot help).
2. The camera man is to be appreciated, he is better than any other hollywood cameraman. He has fully utilized the latest technology in shooting, wait, not fully used the technology, he has done more than that. Every shot you can see a zoom out and zoom in, excellent shaking cutting edge clips and camera work to go with it. In some (actualy many)scenes the camera rotates a 360 degree and gives a great effect on the screen, even though you don’t feel the tense in the chase scenes you feel the camera work is good. Even though you dont get what is happening in a particular shot, a master piece of work can be observed. Excellent work by cameraman.
3. Music
songs are good. harris jeyaraj has scored some memorable songs in the movie, even though they resemble his songs in prevoius movies, it is good.
The background score for film is a great attempt by harris, I think it nobody, atleast in india, has tried these experiment in background music, like, in some tense scenes, where one has to feel the fear and anxiety of the scene, the music director has composed(or re-composed) the music of dappankuthu, (the exact piece of music in Chiku bukku raile, where raju sundaram dances as a porter). Great daring experiments by harris ….keep it up harris.
Scenes that people will like:
1. prakash raj crying on seeing his daughter’s murdered body, who is nude, raped, cut in neck, and decomposed body. This scene is worth watching.
2. jyothika’s suicide attempt, she wears a polythene cover over her head and commit suicide, this is a good scene to see, and also to u can learn one more way how to get killed yourself if u dont have sleeping tablets or if your room doesnot have a fan to hang.(good scene, i appreciate the director).
3. A scene in america, where 4 dead bodies are digged out, they show all bodies that are decomposed, with worms over them, neck cut, finger less. and one body where the head skeleton is visible. I liked this scene…toooo much..Hope all like this, particularly women and children will like this scene and remember for days…or dream of this excellent, beautiful girls in decomposed state.
4. Some good scenes for the students, both school and college students will like, one scene in US where the villan rapes and kills his professor. Another scene where the same villian in young age rapes his school teacher…, kills and puts the body in some well. This scene is some thing that the school students and college students should & will learn from (I mean what & how not to do).
Highlight of movie.
——————
* most of the women in this movie are killed.
* one such kind of thriller movie, where thrilling scenes play less effect than the other useless ( sorry usefull..that was a spelling mistake) scenes.
* No negative points about the movie.
* Audiance in theatre are stunned of this great movie, spellbound, they dont even whistle or clap…Great work Goutham Menon
The movie is a SURE ASUCCESS.

The movie/plot was good
But as tiger said, i found the movie gruesome and lot of gory scenes. I had my eyes closed during most times in the movie..
Not for the sensitive types…

All the time Kamal was found digging some or the other body without leaving exception even with Jothika’s body..The glorious part was police being shown as if they are idiots, leave alone the constables in the bus,Mumbai police at the airport who would easily let villains escape..Even after finding the place where villains were on a killing spree only 2 NYPD police were kept guarding the place who were easily killed..Imagine the ratio: ‘N’ number of police murdered to catch ‘2′ killers..

The movie was quite fast. but the story is not so special. this cannot come in par with kakha kakha.
haris shines in all the songs except that item number “neruppe”. fails in bgm. most of the times our ears get irritated due to over loudness.
camera one of the greatest plus points of the movie. must be appriciated.
villain Daniel Balajee (Amudhan) scores 95 out of 100 for his eximious performance. he has got a great scope and fulfils it without doubts. really great. hats off daniel…
Kamal does not have scope to express his usual acting. his part is ok..
is jothika needed for the movie. a role with 0% scope.
one time watch movie.. not like kakha kakha..

Great review folks! I’ve not seen the movie, but already have my mind set about it.
For those who have written the reviews, was it like you were in a hospital morgue where they were pulling out bodies for disection with some song & dance?

I saw the movie in Dallas. First day, First show! It was awesome! Not only the movie but the crowd. Everyone shouting and screaming. It showed how long people were waiting for this movie.
I loved the movie frame to frame. Its a totally different attempt. I saw someone mentioned, didnt see Kamal in the movie but only Gautham. Thats where the victory is. The whole movie makes you get frozen into the world of Raghavan.
The most awesome moment in the movie is the scene where the hero, cop and villains lying down in the apartment, everyone totally bruised, for hours and the scenes following it. Gotto say, never seen such a moment even in any hollywood movie. Hardcore orginality! Gautam should be appreciated all the way!
Second best moment would be the introduction scene followed by the song. Man, I froze seeing such a spectacular intro and song to Raghavan. When the song ended my colleage sitting next to me leaned towards to me and said, “Man, this marks the best introduction scene of Kamal in his history of movies”.
Many felt the movie has too much violence. But have to understand that its the hook, plot and shock element of the movie. It drives the movie and the adrenalin pumping ride is what to be expected. If you felt it completely, that means its a fantastic movie and the movie has already won.
Guys, dont miss this movie! I completely recommend it.

There are few things kamal does that others can do, there are many things that he does which others cannot do -
ManiRatnam on Kamal.
The best actor in India is back with a bang.

some may argue for too much of gruesome scenes but in total those are th ones makes this movie unforgettable for many(for right or wrong reasons)being a horror movie craze i loved the blood and gore in the movie
Kamal the best actor in india needs more recognition especially from partial north indian media

Gruesome. 35% of Kakha Kakha. Not a Kamal movie at all. Music and camera work are good. As a Kamal’s fan, I felt this movie as pathetic.

Hai Pals ! i have watched the movie on sep 1 2006 . I give the 4 th best movie among kamals movies . I totally agree with the fact that its not a kamal movie .
But it is the movie which has the caliber of international standards.Kamal’s sharp looks , outstanding performance , mind blowing camera work and direction make this movie worth watching . North Indians should have look at this movie ! . I was spell bound for the introduction song of kamal i.e “karka…karka” . Its good to see kamal chasing 2 pschyopaths . Jo is cute always .
But Man who steals the show is KAMAL … KAMAL … KAMAL ….

My review summary :
> Serial killers on spree
> Kamal as Raghavan DCP Chennai (i like the style Kamal says DCP Chennai) get emotionally involved in the search for the killers and tracks them till New York.
> They escape and come to India
> Meanwhile there is a emotional involvement with Jyothika in NY
> She comes back to India with Kamal
> How Kamal tracks them back (or brings them out of their hideout) and they threaten Kamal with Jyothika and what happens in climax is for you to pay for the movie and watch.
> + Music, Camera, Kamal and Kamal.
> - I believe this should be an A cert(given the amount of violence, fingers hanging like chillies etc.,) which kind of puts of viewers wanting to go with Family and kids.
> Again another A center Kamal movie.
