Captain Vijayakanth has achieved what Vai.ko, PMK and others failed to achieve. In his very first election, he has won by a margin of 14000+ votes. And he has split lots of votes. Wish his popularity gains, and he becomes a better alternative for DMK/ADMK and his party wins more seats in the future.
In my opinion, the biggest gainer of this election will be Congress. Now MK cannot bargain that much with the central government. If he tries something there, there will be an immediate impact to his government in TN. Its a win-win situation for Congress. There were rumours of MK trying to form a 3rd front with help of Chandrababu Naidu, Mulayam Singh, Left etc. Now he cant afford to do that
Needless to say, the biggest losers are PMK. Good for TamilNadu
Vaiko-> Politics vittu go!
And more importantly. Chennai no more a DMK forte!
Ok. For us, whats the change? In chennai the police security will shift from Poes Garden to Gopalapuram. Kannagi statue will be reinstated. Sun TV/Thamizh Murasu/Dinakaran will become the official(pseudo) media
CAS will remain for ever. Sarath Kumar/Radhika might realise their mistakes and cry in Sun TV like devayani, and request Thamizhina thalaivar to forgive them. Sun TV will do what Jaya TV was doing, Jaya TV will do what Sun TV was doing. In all government offices, JJ’s photo will be replaced with MK’s photo. Other than that, nothing ![]()

Completely agree.Wish ‘Captain’had won more seats but for a debut,it’s a good performance.I liked the way he took the challenge of contesting from a PMK bastion like ‘Virudhachalam’(Have I spelt it right?)instead of his home town ‘Madurai’.Good snub for the PMK,wish they had failed to win a single seat.
Vaiko-he deserves it doesn’t he?His election eve stunt certainly disappointed a lot of his admirers.
BJP-again failed to win a single seat in TN&Kerala.:(
Lok Paritran-At least the educated ppl of Mylapore could have given them a victory.
All in all a very diff kind of election result,Not the usual, emotional landslides that parties get here.
And most imp the first coalition govt in TN.Will it be worse than the previous brute majority governments TN has seen or better, only time will tell.

If NDTV news is correct then Captain has won only by 2400 votes.

There is one more thing with the Congress-DMK relationship. It will be a WIN situation for DMK too. If PMK had got more seats and if they form coalition with DMK, then on any given day, JJ can buy PMK with some suitcases. It is avoided now and Congress cannot go with JJ since Center’s position will be in jeopardy.
The last para about the changes is complete kalakkal

All because of this CAPTAIN the votes were split and the kezhavan won. Else ADMK would have won and TN would have seen another 5 years of development. Anyway i give this coalition a max of 2 years in power. TN cannot afford to have him in power for all 5 years

I second Anony…
Well as you said incontestably in the last paras, stagnation would prevail. No major changes..

I have travelled thru Gopalapuram and Oliver Road during the time I had some tuition classes. the security hassle is nothing much compared to what it is at Poes Garden.

Captain is famous from Kashmir to Kanyakumari so its no wonder he won convincingly…
if he can capture terrorists so easily, what problems will he have in tackling day-day issues…

Prabhu, not sure whether the news is true.I hrd that Radika was promised an important post in Jaya TV and that was the erason for her joining AIADMK. And it was really funny watching Jaya TV last morning when the results were getting announced. It was the only channel which gave a reversal of the results.I even thought that they mite claim Jaya to be the CM inspite of DMK winning. When will such channels ever change?

Inda DMK, ADMK parties ku namba eppo vote podama irukomo anniku daan Tamilnadu urupada poradu. Good that someone like Captain is brave enough to contest all alone in this election. This would/should be a very start for some Arasiyal turn over in the coming years, I hope. Let’s see.
But having said all this, I’m sad that Lok Parithran did not win in any constituancy. Manam thuvandu pogama I hope they continue their good work.

then ok.Thanks for ur kind reply rsubras.See friends reservation issue is creating terror in Delhi, this health minister ANBUMANI is threatening students. No voice from leaders of tamil nadu.To overcome all such things we are badly in need of someone like CAPTAIN.We should surely drive his dmk&Admk.

Read today/yesterday that Lok Paritran has split due to favouritism by the party president to the Mylapore candidate. Also, supposedly most of the election funds and workforce(!) were diverted to Mylapore constituency while the other 6 candidates were left to fend for themselves.
Anybody has more news on this???
