Budget 2006!

Our finance minister is under severe pressure from the left parties, the coming assembly elections etc etc. Looks like he has exhausted all areas of income, whereas the expenditure arena keeps on expanding. To help the finance minister, here are some more taxes and subsidies that will help the government, and also the citizens.

Datetax:
If you observe carefully, off late there is a gap between the engagement date and wedding date. There are some lucky couples who stay in the same city. Their life is like RB Chaudhary/Ram Gopal Verma movies. Low budget/Super hit. But in many cases, the guy is in one city whereas the girl in some other city. Like Shankar/Subhash Ghai movies. Big budget. This is unfair advantage to people staying in same city.
So the people staying in same city must pay a dating tax. This tax amount can be utilized by the government to provide subsidized season train tickets, reduced pricing for mobile charges etc for the big budget couples.

TanTax:
Travelling within India has become very popular. With the introduction of low cost airlines, people have started exploring lots of tourist locations. Some people utilize this opportunity to get themselves tanned :P Hence the government can levy a tan tax from the tourists. In addition there are some gundu(fat) uncles clad in tantex, showcasing their thoppai(tummy) and terrorizing the other tourists in swimming pools/beaches etc. Nuisance tax can be levied on them.

Soap Serial Tax:
All soaps(mega-serials) should be made cry per view. err. pay per view. Every person is allowed to watch 2 serials per day. If they want to watch more than 2 serials, then they need to pay a soap serial tax. Am sure the entire male community and young girls in the country will vote for the ruling party if this tax is in place.

HornTax:
There are lots of people, who honk unnecessarily in traffic. A honk meter can be fitted in every vehicle. Every driver is permitted to honk 50 times in a month. From 51 to 100 honks, per honk can be charged at 10 Rs per honk. From 101 to 250, 12 Rs per honk, and 250+ honks must be charged at a flat rate of 20 Rs per honk.

DedicateTax

There are umpteen music/FM channels in the country. We have viewers/listeners calling up these channels, and dedicate songs. Every person who wants to dedicate a song has to pay 250 Rs as tax/ song.

By implementing the above mentioned taxes, the economy will really boom :D

Ferro… expected something more serious, something along the lines of the Railway Budget post. But then this one is a Laughter-Challenge piece de resistance!

Was wondering if Horn Tax can actually be implemented. Damn, I hate it when I hear all the honk-happy drivers going ballistic! I drive with my windows shut and listening to some good music and the blaring horns can create a cacophony so loud that you can get unnerved!

    How about these?
    - Public Spitting & Peeing Tax : Should drive some civic sense into the populace!
    - Driving with Cellphone Tax : Should put the drivers in place. Get a handsfree or shutdown your cellphones!
    - 2+ passenger on 2 wheeler Tax : The HAZARD should STOP!
(suitable amendment of the above tax to cover overloaded rickshaws, buses, vans, trucks and ambassadors are permissible!)

    What say?
