Today morning when I was on my to office, I stopped at this signal in jayanagar. There was no policeman there. When I was nearing the signal, it turned red. At that time, a school going boy was in the front. He was riding his bicycle. The signal had turned red when he was midway. And there was hardly any traffic.
The kid got down from the bicycle, pushed it backwards till the stop line and waited patiently till the signal turned green. Good boy :-)
At the same time, many guys just jumped the signal since there was no policeman. If alone people can learn from a 3rd or 4th standard kid to obey the rules!

Kamalinee is Kamal’s heroine!

Kamalinee Mukherjee, the Bengali beauty is Kamal Hassan’s second
heroine in Gautham Menon’s Vetayadu Vilayadu.

Kamalinee is basically a theatre personality and Bharatnatyam dancer
from Kolkota. She has modeled for Parachute hair oil, Fair and Lovely
and Ayush shampoo in Mumbai.

Noted actress and director Revathy gave her the big break as Shilpa
Shetty’s younger sister in Phir Milenge. Later she did Sekhar
Kanmula’s critically acclaimed Telugu film Anand which was a big hit.

Her latest release in Telugu is Style with Prabhu Deva and Lawrence.
Now Vetayadu Vilayadu will be her big break in Tamil and she has a
very crucial role in the film.

Safin and Nadal pull out of australian open :-( Agassi is also not there. So that leaves Hewitt the job of taming federer. Off late atleast two top 10 players are missing on the grand slam. It kills the thrill actually!
As am typing this, I see another article which says Tommy Haas has beaten Federer in some warm up game! But Federer is a class apart when it comes to grand slam matches! I would love Federer to win, but after a close contest!

According to this rediff article based on findings by iExplore, the top 5 tourist destinations in the world are

1. Egypt
2. Peru
3. Galapagos
4. China
5. India :-)

After looking at this list only I knew something called Galapagos existed. Sounds interesting :-)

BTW whats there in China? I know that there is this Great Wall of China. Anything else interesting to see?

Sigh! I am unable to recall, where I hid all the gold in my previous birth :-(

Khalbali hai Khalbali hai Khalbali
Khalbali hai Khalbali hey Khalbali
You never know when reality dawns on you. Only last week, I had mentioned about this quote. Little did I know, what was in store for me.
I went to this Persian Restaurant called Sufi at WindTunnel road last night. Entrance is very simple. But grand interiors. Pretty nice place. Right from the moment I entered this place, it was extremely familiar. I tried very hard to recall where I had seen such a place before. It felt very much at home. And later when the waiters treated me with so much care, the reason for familiarity struck me like a lightning.
My body was very much there, but my soul wandered towards the faraway desert. I could see all the girls in the desert waving towards me with great enthusiasm, and a huge black stallion at my service. I rode the stallion and reached my Palace in no time. A special belly dance session was arranged for me. I was sitting at a relaxed position, with sarakku(daru) glass in one hand. And hookah(apple flavor) in another. A nice arabian babe was feeding me green grapes.
When I looked at the bill, I was rudely brought back to this world. Though I came back to this world, the persian thoughts were still lingering. Even when I was riding back home after a lovely dinner, I got a feeling that I was riding a horse and not a bike. There is this road from wind tunnel road, which leads to inner ring road. When I was riding there, I very much could feel the jumps and bumps one undergoes while riding a horse. And the noises from the rickety auto rickshaws and other vehicles reminded me of the drum beats, that precedes a horse race.
Ziddi ziddi ziddi ziddi armaan
Ziddi ziddi ziddi hey toofan
The moment I reached inner ring road, the race started. Vehicle approaching in all directions. Many overtook from left, some overtook from right. These vehicles from the enemy camp tried to terrorize me, by honking suddenly for no reason. And when the road became narrower, after reaching koramangala the enemy camp tried out a different tactic. They let out stray dogs to catch me. Smarter me, raised my legs from the brake and foot rest whenever a dog tried to pounce on me. At last I reached home safe and sound!
Sheeshey bottle peeli hai
raat neeli neeli hai
hai khalbali

Sigh! I recalled that I was the prince of persia in my previous birth!

A sufi mystic once said: I’ve been on a diet for two weeks and all i have lost is two weeks :D
Interesting saying at a persian restaurant called sufi :)

Yesterday I got to watch this song ‘Khajuraho’, from the movie ‘oru naaL oru kanavukana kandaen’. In this song, Srikanth will blindfold SoniaSania agarwal. Then he will take ice and move/rub right from her forehead, till where an U certificate movie allows. As usual, I was thinking how this song would have been picturised by various directors.

Ramanarayanan
When the heroine is blindfolded, hero will take a mouse(the real one, and not the PC one) and place it on her forehead. The mouse will run over the heroine ;-)

Visu
Joint family. Visu’s son will think eveyone has slept, and play like this with his wife. Where as everyone will be observing it silently. And they will imagine the same sequence with their corresponding partners. Like Raghuvaran with lakshmi, Visu with Kamala Kamesh etc. Song lyrics can be adjusted to include lines like ‘Janaki devi kuchi ice thaedi’ etc :-D

Cheran
Joint family once again. But this time, all the family members will be in a field harvesting. During lunch break, all the women will be lying on the ground blindfolded. Manorama the granny, will send the ice cubes through her grand children. The grand children will give it to their dads, and they will play this game with their partner. And at the end, topless Rajkiran will be blindfolded, and everyone will keep rubbing the ice over rajkiran :-P

Bala
Hero is a poor guy. He gets the ice cubes on loan. He will blindfold the heroine, and play this game. The ice seller will be angry that the hero did not give money for a long time. So when the hero is playing this game, ice-fellow will stab the hero from the back. But hero wont show any reaction and press the ice hard on the heroines body. Heroine janni vandhu sethuduvaa. And hero will die from the stab wound!

Shankar
Heroine will be wearing a white color 2 piece dress. The location will be some norwegian fjords. Hero will take the ice, rub all over the censored parts and then circle it around her naval. Around them there will be some 250 people dressed like eskimos. And 69 cameras will be used to capture this shot.

Balachandar
Elder brother will be playing this game. Suddenly he will feel like going to the rest room. So he will give the ice to his younger brother and get inside the loo. At that time, the younger brothers girl friend will get in and see this. She will be extremely upset and come out crying. Our hero will see this, hug her and try to console her. Heroine will open her eyes, and see the younger brother with the ice katti. She will be shocked. They both will goout, and see hero hugging younger brothers aaL. At the same time they all will hear some noise, and check out whats happening. Hero’s dad will be playing the same game with velaikaari!

Today is AR Rahman’s birthday :-) Happy birthday Boss :-)

Thought I will compile some list of my favorite songs. No ranking, no particular order. Just some random songs and reasons I like it. And just a few songs, since this list will be a never ending one. And I have already blogged about some select ARR songs. So wont include them in the list too.

1. veLLai pookaL –> Kannathil muthamittaal
Soulful rendering by Rahman. Amazing lyrics. Listening to this song, makes me feel peaceful and calm.
2. Minnale –> May Madham
Very touching song. Cello. I just love listening to this instrument. SPB and the music compliment each other. Sometimes the music takes the centre stage, and sometimes SPB. Brilliant song!
3. Khoon Chala –> Rang De Basanti
Mohit Chauhan rocks. After repeated listening to RDB, this is my favorite song in the album. Especially the cello piece from 0.50 to 1.00. And at the end, the pace of the song increases. Bliss!
4. Anjali Anjali –> Duet
SPB and Kadri Gopalnath at their best. One of the longest songs of ARR, but yeh dil maange more :-)
5. Nenjamellam Kaadhal –> Ayutha Ezhuthu
Another brilliant song. I love the second interlude when both the guitars gradually increase the pace of the song. And the female singer starts with ‘kaadhal ennai varudum boadhum’. Aaaha. Everytime I listen to this song, I push back to that second interlude and listen to that guitar piece.
6. Chinnamma Chilakkama –> Meenaxi
This is one song I love for the chorus group. They do a wonderful job, everytime they sing that Telugu lyrics. And at one stage when they are singing chinnamma chilakkama, Sukhwinder Singh breaks free with hara hara hara. Wow
7. Mayilirage - Ah Aah
Mainly for Naresh Iyer. What a find for Tamil Film music :-)
8. Girl friend - Boys
The guitar piece at the beginning of the song. Very stylish, and karthik has sung this song extremely well!
9.Kissa Hum likhenge - Doli Sajha ke rakhna
I liked the hindi version of the song, rather than ‘kadhal kadidham’ in Jodi. Tara ram pam, is also a very nice song from this movie.
10. Romeo aatam poataal- Mr Romeo
The interludes in this song are mindblowing. Especially at the point, when Shilpa Shetty is introduced. Good one :-)
11. Athaikku piRandhavale - Kezhakku Cheemayile
Village folk music for this movie. And surprisingly bharathiraja had picturised this song well, without his traditional veLLai udai devadhaigaL!
Ayithayum maamanum sugam dhaana, aathula meenum sugam dhaana, anname unnayum ennayum thooki vaLartha thiNNayum sugam dhaana. maaman poNNe machcham paarthu naaLaachu :-)
12. Gurus of Peace
Nusrat fateh ali khan’s voice just melts into your ears. And I love the tabla piece that comes immediately after the 2nd minute. And immediately Nusrat sings ‘Ishq dawa hai har ek dard ki, zanjeer ishq hai har ek rishte ki’. Too good :-) This song gives me goosepimples everytime I listen to it.
13. Azhaghe Sugama - Paarthale Paravasam
One of my all time favorites. Lyrics, singers, pronounciation, music. Everything is perfect in this song. And the piano piece in the middle is lovely.
14. Dilse Re–> Dilse
I like both the hindi version and tamil version ‘Sandosha kanneere’. Rahman sings ‘iru pookaL kiLai maele’ in high pitch, and then switches to a low pitch and sings ‘kaNNeere kaNNeere’ and continues with ‘thaedi thaedi theyndhene’. Aaaha. Pramaadham :-)
15. Odakaara Maarimuthu–>Indra
Fast paced song with very nice interludes of flute. Picturisation of this song was also pretty good.
After the first interlude, immediately after the flute piece, one nice ‘tring tring’ piece comes. Just before that ‘Gundu poNNu komaLavaLLi ennaana ennaana’. And in second interlude, the flute is in sync with percussion instruments before the ‘Amman kovil veppa maram ennaachu ennachu’.
16. Pachai kiLigaL thoaLodu –> Indian
Wonderful lyrics, Kamal’s dance in that cheru and Yesudas’s rendering makes this song a pleasant and good one. What is the instrument after the 1st interlude, before the flute piece?
ARR thalaiva. UngaLaal
andha viNNil aanandham
indha maNNil aanandham
17. Rangeela re - Rangeela
1st Hindi movie for which ARR composed(Non-dubbed movies). And rest is history :-)
18. Nee kattum selai - Pudhiya mannargaL
Very catchy tune, interesting lyrics and a different song. Me likey :-D
nee kattum chelai madippile naan kasangi ponen di
un elumicha pazham neRa iduppule kerangi ponen di
19. Radha Kaise na Jale - Lagaan
Do I need to say anything about this song?
Gopiyan tare hain, chand hai radha
phir kyun hai usko viswaas aadha.
the naadhir dhir naadhir dhinna piece in the middle is cute, and all credit to Gracy and the chorepgrapher for the excellent dance movements.
20. Pachai Nirame - Alaipayuthey
In my opinion, this is the best picturised song of AR Rahman. Brilliant lyrics, amazing photography, mindblowing location and very nice music.

I know you can keep on adding more songs to this list. But am stopping here, as no list can do justice to this genius. I am very happy to live in the same period as Rahman!

Gopal has a complete list of ARR’s compositions here. This list includes the list of jingles for which ARR has composed music as well. Biography of Rahman is a must read. Amazing job Gopal sir :-). Hats off to you!

If I am not wrong, Liverpool defeated Chelsea just once under Rafa’s regime. That too with a controversial goal. And if am not wrong very recently, Liverpool saw red going down 1-4 to Chelsea.

And here we have uncle Rafa, telling the world how to beat Chelsea. Never knew Rafa had so much sense of humor!
