Hard luck Kimi and Sania! Well done Anju

As expected a weekend to forget for Ferrari!

Why is that McLaren and Michelin as a team test the patience of its drivers? Kimi was the best driver yesterday and still he could not win the race? Was it his fault? Definitely not. True that Alonso and Montoya are good drivers. But Kimi is a great driver similar to Schumi!
McLaren have literally gifted the drivers championship to Alonso. Agreed, Alonso is also a good driver and commits less mistakes. To add more, he pounces on the mistakes made by other teams.
It was really sad to see Kimi miss the top step of the podium once again. How many times this season this has happened? My heart goes out for him!

Poor Narain. He is really unlucky. Still he managed to finish the race in a very bad car! Better luck next time Narain!

Sania lost to sharapova in straight sets. Those of you who didnt watch the match, let me tell you that the scoreline is bit harsh on what Sania did. She hit some amazing winners and for every point gave a stiff point to Sharapova.
Against top players, if you commit so many unforced errors, and serve that many double faults, there is no chance of victory. Still Sania can take a lots of positives from this tournament. She is only 18 :-)
She should work on her serve and reduce the unforced errors. This will surely help her reaching the top 20. She has the stuff for it. And I would like to see her seeded from the bext grandslam tournament onwards. This will eliminate the qualifying matches, and also chance of meeting top players early in the tournament!

Anju bobby george won the gold medal in the Asian Athletics Championships. This is very good for her. Hope she wins many more medals in the future!

Alonso has lady luck smiling so much on him!!! Lucky buggar!

After the one stop strategy I was hoping for a Mc Laren 1-2.. Sigh!!:( Poor Kimi… But I still hope he wins the remaining 4 races… lets c…

Yeah, agree that Sania had some real good winners… cudnt see the whole match coz of a damn power cut, but she was playing quite well…

  2. sebastian says:

4 DNFs for Alonso & 4 Wins for Kimi is what I am praying for.

  3. B a l a j i says:

Kimi would be pained to finish second again after 2003. Having come this far, he should make it atleast this year.

Service has always been Sania’s weak point. The outcome was known. Sad that she couldn’t win a set. It would have been a great confidence booster had she done that.

  4. Very true.. but so many unforced errors and second service points lost dont reflect too well… but true.. shes only 18..
enna ferrari.. sania-sharapova match a pathi verum technical details solreenga.. namma naatula, indha match a late night kan vizhicchu paathu, the entire male population wud have landed up late in office.. ;)

  5. Nithya,

If McLaren can reduce the pace a bit and give a reliable car, Kimi will surely win. He is very talented :-) I think Ron Dennis should focus on that, rather than playing mind games with other manufacturers and Max Mosley!

    Sebastian,

Pray that Kimi doesnt have any DNF. He will win. And regarding Alonso, tough luck buddy! Renault are very reliable :)

  6. Balaji,

Sharapova didnt play her usual game. She was very clever and made Sania commit lots of mistakes :-(

    Sudha,

Hewitt match appuram sania match. And adhukku munnadi KBC. Venus- Serena match oru 15 mins paathutu kaN asandhutten. Office kku late ellam illai. Inniku evening 7.30 KKu highlights keedhu. Appo paathukalaam nu sila paer nenachi irupaanga :)

  7. prabhakar says:

Maamu, you are damn right. Te asshole Ron Dennis is playing politics and ruining the driver in Kimi.
Me thinks Kimi wud shift to Ferrari next season. Imagine the REDs wid Kimi & schumi by their side.
Coming to Sania, the b** talks too much. Accepted that she has talent unseen in indian sports, but attitude ..um..gottu improve man.

  8. Ganesh says:

I expected a tight match between sania and sharapova. Sania gave a good fight but the final set point 6-2, 6-1 is not a fighting result. At least she should have made sharapova scream little bit more.

F1 – This time Montoyo didn’t do any thing silly to favor Alonso.

  9. Maverick says:

//And I would like to see her seeded from the bext grandslam tournament onwards. This will eliminate the qualifying matches, and also chance of meeting top players early in the tournament!//

You get 32 seeds in a grand slam out of the 128 in the main draw. Though Sania is not ranked high enough to be a seed, she is already ranked well enough to make the main draw without having to play the qualifying rounds. And with this performance of hers in US Open, I think she would break into top 40 of women’s tennis.

  10. prabhakar,

When some arai vekkadu’s are talking so much, its ok maamu. Chinna ponnu dhaane :-)

    Ganesh,

She broke down at crucial points. Like she allowed Sharapova to come back from 0-40 to win the game and all :(

    Maverick,

Yeah yeah. She has collected 112 WTA points now :-)

  11. Cinefan says:

    Maverick,
Sania will break into the Top 30 when the WTA rankings are released the next time around.

Sania says she will not change her game at any cost. She says “I might have a lot of unforced errors but will also have a lot of winners.Thats the way I play&will continue to.What I can improve on is in physical fitness&serves”.

There is nothing wrong in her attitude but why that horrible accent?I hope she reverts back to talking normally:)

    Prabhu,
A week end to forget for Ferrari is an understatement,it was a disaster.
I think Alonso is going to become the youngest F1 champion. They have had a very reliable car this season&though Mclaren has had more speed, reliability will see him thro’.As for Kimi,it’s Bad luck once again with a capital B.

  12. Gp says:

Kimi is a great driver similar to Schumi!
—> hahahahahha, hahahhhhhhhahashahaha, youre joking dude. Kimi is not NOT definitly similar to Schumi. Schumi is a scum, Kimi is a driver, a real race driver, who doesnt complain, who doesnt screw other ppl’s career, who does demand to be No-1 in a team even though his teamate is known to be better at times.

And for Sania, the end of the road it is, and for her going further, not a chance, the amount of unforced errors, damn ALOT of unforced errors. what the heck> does she train herself?! does she have a coach?>?

  13. Gp,

Look at some past records before you talk some crap. Okay?

  14. Bala says:

I too felt the same for Kimi, the next Schumi… Sania has more miles to cover, its just a begining.

  15. Srivat says:

I too feel sorry for Kimi. The lap that he did after doing a pit stop to change his delaminated rear tyre was amazing and aggressive.I was impressed. And for his attitude if i remember correctly the fastest lap of the race was either the last lap or the one before it.
As prabhakar says one would doubt really why does engine failure always happen to Kimi alone in the last few races.
Im a diehard fan of Ferrari and schumi, but felt the same way as you on seeing the race.Kimi is a great driver similar to schumi.

  16. Bala and Srivat,

Imagine Kimi driving a ferrari after 2007 :-D

  17. Vasanth says:

“She (Sania) is only 18″ Well so is Sharapova. Anyway I think Sania needs to build up a point and not try to hit winners every single time. That will reduce the number of unforced errors. I hope her new coach is telling her that.

  18. * says:

Sania will be another Ramesh Krishnan at best. Definitely won’t make it to the top 10 or win a Grand Slam all her life, we can put that in stone.

Let’s not unfairly assume that every rising star will become an Anand.

There are tons of loose ends in her game. Her serve was broken 16 times in the first 3 rounds. That says a lot about where she stands – clone of Ramesh.

Sampras, Becker were instantly recognised as future champions when they first burst on the scene at 17 and rightly so – serve was their forte. They improved their backhand and groundstrokes much later. But looked at Chang as a future champ or even a Grand Slam winner.

The next two years will be the best ones for Sania. She will hover between 30-50 at best, max she will reach is the 20s. Then a huge wave of 15-16 year olds will emerge and push her out of the top 50. Let’s get back to reality folks.

  19. * says:

read that as “..nobody looked at Chang…”
