I somehow feel ‘Thiruda Thiruda’ is one of the best movies of PC Sriram. Amazing!!! Yesterday, I got to watch this movie once again! Three songs in the movie, I never get bored of watching are
1. Chandralekha (Heard that the choreographer for the song also had a large say in the lightings)
2. Veera Paandi koattayile
In this song, there is a stanza where heera sings
‘Indha maalai mayakkam en manadhil nadukkam Nenjil vaarthai thudikkum’
Adhula oru blue lens vachi veLaayadi irupaar paarunga. And exactly at that point of time, mijik la ‘tok tok’ appadinu namma ARR deivam kalakki iruppaar. Sathyam! Sathyam! (Abirami abirami solli bore adichchu poachu :P)
3. Thee Thee
Oru pazhaya kovil kuLam, padikkattu and 2 people in black color dress. Avlo dhaan. But picturisation irukke. Wow!!
No wonder ARR reserves his best for ManiRatnam movies.
Yaaravadhu Mani Sir kitta sollungapaa. Avar padam paathu romba naaL aachu. Pudhu padam work start panna sollungapaa. PC Sriram cameraman aa poda sollungapaa! Prabhu deva choreography panna sollungapaa (Only choreography)

Vatsan,
IMO Ayutha Ezhuthu is a much much much better movie than the crap thats been coming out these days
Neraya perukku adhu puriyalai, and they termed it as a bad movie
I read about that PC movie in rediff today!

Agree with Ferrari. AE was not at all a bad movie by any stretch of imagination. Only that Sidharth’s bit came in the last and made me restless to see what happened to wounded Surya.
Coming to Thiruda Thiruda, it was a very good entertainer from Mani. Dunno why it bombed at the box office. And my fav song in that is “Rasathi en usiru ennudhillai”.

Ferrari,
u forgot “ARR a mijik poda sollungappa”

Felt ditto last evening ! Two points to add:
1) Recall the fight in the open barn after the bus chases Shanmugasundaram’s henchman to retrieve Heera. The top half of the frame was tending to darkness and red. The horizon looked a very unrealistic orange. I’m not much for technical details and I have no idea how that was done but oru painting paarakara effect !
2) Everyone went nuts over Chayya Chayya choreography on trains. But hey the TT climax fight was another level. The fag end reminded me of the Agni Natchatram climax though.

I think he’s no more innovative in writing scripts. The slide started from Dilse and it’s only a downhill journey! AP was an exception, even the critically acclaimed Kannathil had its shades of redundant terrorism. IMO, it was brilliant in parts. Though his skill in portraying sensitivity is intact, besides he keeps abreast with latest technologies but nothing can save a movie like a sound script.
So what next, an afghan girl loving an Iraq boy in the backdrop of American Terrorism?
I hope he makes a good period film – the Box office pressure to score will be less or he should work with Stars. I’m dying to see a Mani-Kamal-ARR combo.

I love all the songs in the movie and it was a hit here! Just as AE was and Heyram.
I love both the movies - thats the only movie to my opinion Prasanth acts well in!
Thee still rocks today!

I second msp.Thiruda Thiruda had one of the all-time great action sequences in the climax…absolutely brilliant! I would go out on a limb and say that it could easily match up with any Hollywood action set piece

TT la yeppavum oru orange tint irukkum. that was PC’s theme for the look of the movie. Just like the Smoke effect for Idhayathai Thirudaathey and Iruttu effect for Agni Natchathiram brings in the moods of those movies.

Hmm…I havent seen the movie but heard and seen the songs…There’s no doubt on the gud work of ARR & PC Sriram …Hats of to them…

Thiruda Thiruda is one of the few Tamil movies I’ve seen that figure in my favourites - songs included.
Another one is Agni Nakshatiram. Good fun, those movies.

isn’t mani’s next movie without songs? or atleast he was telling in his interviews that he wanted to make a movie without songs…therla…
on 27 Aug 2005 at 12:17 pm # vee-jay
Agreed for the other songs.
Thee Thee: Adhe set-la lyrics illama adhe composition verum instrumental ku andha dance better-a irundhirukkumo???
on 27 Aug 2005 at 1:40 pm # Maverick
Vee-jay
You mean just with the jadhis? Or adhuvum illamayaa?
The way jadhis come up in that song and the soft female vocals formed a nice contrast…illai?
on 29 Aug 2005 at 2:37 am # vee-jay
Maverick,
I should have been clear!! No comment on picturisation.
i thought ‘thee thee’ would have been better with only instrumentals and jadhis.
