I really fail to understand the craze behind this 56000 Rs RmKv silk saree.
1. Not everyone can afford it
2. Even if you can afford it, how much accessories should be bought along with this?
‘Yaenga. ambadhu1000 koduthu podavai vaangi irukkom. Idhukku match aa otha jadai vaLayal, jimikki ellam paootunda dhaane nanna irukkum’
3. Can you trust someone to wash/iron this saree?
‘Velaiakaari eduthundu oaditaa? Sunday annaiku summa dhaane irukkeenga. Oru alasu alasunga. UngaLukkum exercise pannina madhiri irukkum. Thoacha mattum mudinjudha? Mottai maadila vadaam kaaya vakkara madhiri, idha kooda irundhe paathukanum’
4. Idha oru angle la irundhu paakacha lungi madhiri keedhu 
5. There are much better looking silk sarees at 1/10th the price
6. Konja naal wait pannunga. Idhoda look alikes ranganathan theru la kedaikka aaramabichidum. Bhoodha kannadi vachi color aarayava poraanga? Edhu original edhu duplicate appadinu.
7. Aduththa varushathula irundhu 20K Rs kku mela silk sarees vaangina, silk benefit tax of 10 % will be levied appadinu namma P Chidambaram solla poraaru paarunga.
8. It sure will be worn on occassions like marriage. Saapdacha sambar,thayir pachadi etc saree la kottiduthunaa? kaRai poguma? Adhoda sila colours um poidumaa? 
Aduthu enna vara poradho! Aandava!

nijama pudavai rombave azhaga irukku pakkaradhukku. But RmKV has its own reasons to make the saree – it has entered the Guinness Book of World records with this creation.
btw, remember the 100K rupees outfit worn by Madhuri/ Aish (I don’t remember who) in Devdas. Adha compare panna 56K kammiya than theriyardhu.

Kalyanam aagaruthukku munnadiye ivvalo pechu… innum kalyanam aagi wife-ku saree + accessories ellam vangi kudutha only mookala cryings..;-)
Actually this is not the first time RMKV is coming up with such an expensive saree… idha vida costly collection irukku anga, naan pathirukken…
During my wedding purchase (all sarees were bought there), I fell madly in love with one that had Ravi Varma paintings done in thread… and it was more intricately done than fabric painting… asathalana saree, but velai was 75k!!!
And they have the entire Ramayana story done in the pallu of one saree… adhu velai 40k… and that world’s longest saree is priced at God knows what!!
This saree also looks very good, and Jo looks really pretty… Enakku generala avala kandale pudikkadhu, but idhula nalla irukka..:D
Saree purchase pannaromo illayo, a visit to RMKV makes for great timepass… exhibition madiri… very very creative collection..:D

Vitta selaiyila mega serial kuda varum pola irukku. RmKV needs to come out with something new everytime so that they can maintain their distinct identity in the market.
Jo looks good in sarees….I like the Aasai Aasai song in Dhill and Malayooril song in Thirumalai where she wears sarees.

Actually, this saree is advertised by RmKV as the one which has 15000 different shades. Can you notice that? Diff RGB combinations vechu 15000 shades poattu irundhaa kooda, who will have the patience to check if all 15000 are diff. I dont think a naked human eye can differentiate 15000 diff shades of colors like that. And indha saree ad kku RmkV kodutha buildup irukke…oru 2 weeks aa saree kannula kaataama jothika-va kaati ‘Yen muhurtha pudvaai intha colour’ nnu oattitu irundhaanunga.

Maverick is right - it is not the price of the saree but the colours - in one tamil magazine it was mentioned that the saree will have 54600 different shades - for one thing no one is going to count the shades and secondly the one who buys such a saree
will probably have no intelligence to appreciate art or colour or the weaver/wearer

I mentioned 15000 shades of colours in my previous post. Apologies. It has 50,000 colours and advertised at a cost of Rs.50,000. Designed by one of the RmKV partners K.Viswanathan who is a Textile Engg grad from IIT Delhi.
RmKV does all this gimmicks - 704 ft saree, 50000 colours saree just to attract more crowds though they know there would not be many takers for these kind of sarees. it is just that the crowds get to see RmKV more in news and come in to see those sarees and end up buying the other regular stuff. Nalla marketing strategy.

Will I saw the saree in person when I visited chennai August 2005. I can tell you, The saree is not glamrous as they show in the picture. Looks like what your grandma would wear. I didnt inquire about the prices, they said starting last year diwali, they would have this same saree for 3000 to 56000. each colour is One rupee. But they only start from 3000. I think it is something of marketing techinque. Who is going to check and see if you have 56000 colors there. Even three thousanda count panna koda yaarukku theriya pogathu
