When I left home for my first job, I used to keep in touch with my family and friends through snail mails(Letters). Then telephone and emails.
I miss those days of letters. Nothing gives more pleasure, than reading what my mom had written in the inland letter. When I used to miss her and dad, I used to read re-read re re re read the letter umpteen times. True that talking on phone is very good and better. Still!
Somehow I feel communicating via letters are far better than emailing or chatting via Thyagu Messenger! I am talking from a sentimental or emotional point of view here.
With all the technology available now for keeping in touch, I wonder if people use snail-mails(I am not talking about the credit card/Insurance/Country club folks). Some people might say, by the time the letter reaches you the news will be old. Thats too feeble a reason. I dont think its never late to ask someone how they are and talk generally.
I think I will write a letter to my mom sometime today and post it. Now that reminds me. I need to find where is the nearest post-office

Ferrari: Sir, that is Yahoo not Thyagu
Maverick sent this sms just now. It seems, he saw an advt at a local theatre near bannerghatta
‘See Today. Die Another Day’ ![]()

Almost everyone has a mobile phone these days. And many of them use prepaid service, instead of post-paid. I really dont understand why people go for prepaid(Leave students and other dependants).

I feel post paid is better any day. Frequently people, complain that their currency(prepaid) got over and hence they are not able to send sms or call.

Imagine situations, where you need to use the mobile regulalrly, and you dont get time to recharge your card.

So my dear friends, thos of you who are using prepaid connection, please switch to postpaid as soon as possible. Rate wise there is not much of a difference.

And whilst roaming, where will you recharge your card???

There might be scenarios where you urgently want to communicate with your loved ones. What will you do if your currency gets over? Instead of shedding tears of sorrow, better go for post paid ![]()

P.S. I am not responsible, if you consider this post as a dhrishti(bhuri nazar) for all the travelogue pictures
And yeah, click on each picture for an enlarged version ![]()
Clouds, clouds and more clouds
Some more photos folks ![]()

This was just before the flight landed in bangalore. See the shadow in the ground, because of the cloud cover.

I have no clue where this is. But there was lots of turbulence, and the flight was going in between these clouds. Looked very much like snowy mountains ![]()

These pictures are not of arctic or antartic regions. Very much our own country
Pretty neat eh?
P.S. Let me know, if you want high resolution pictures of any of the snaps I have uploaded till now. Due to space constraint, I have hosted them in photobucket. I will be very happy to pass on the full resolution pics (1.5 to 2 MB per photo)
Mumbai. I love this city for its fast life, amazing connectivity. And you can get anything, any day, any time! It was pouring like anything, from the moment I landed there. And within 10 minutes, my umbrella broke in the rain
It was raining so hard. The next day, rain reduced a little bit.
I went to Gateway of India and Marine Drive just to see how it looked like during the monsoon.
Thanks to the rains, it looked clean and neat
Here are some pictures.

Marine Drive. It looks all the more beautiful at night, with the street lights. From distance it looks like a necklace and people call this area as the Queens Necklace ![]()

Gateway of India

Remember Nayagan movie?

The taj gateway hotel

The reason why this structure was erected.

Look how neat it is near the VT station, after the rains!
Ok. With this, my travelogue ends. This was one of the best vacations I ever had in my life. Some people might think me as mad and crazy for going alone to many places. I dont care. Given the opportunity, I believe in living life to the fullest with or without company as long as I am alive ![]()
I have some more pictures with me. But tired of hosting posting blah blah. And with the J floating around, its better to maintain a low profile for some days
My next dream destinations.
1. Chennai (This will always remain No 1 till I settle there permanently)
1a. Rajasthan
2. North East (I want to go to Cherapunji atleast once in my life time)
3. Dal Lake, Kashmir
Hope you enjoyed the travelogue
Thanks for all the wonderful comments folks. Do visit the places I have mentioned. You will really enjoy. If you are planning for the trip and want some details please do not hesitate to mail me. prabhu dot ferrari at gmail dot com
Vudu Joot!!!
When I was in Mumbai, I went to Sachin Tendulkar’s restaurant Sachin’s @ Mulund.
Here are some snaps

Its not very costly. And the food is also pretty decent ![]()

This is the place, where you get soft drinks/coffee and all. Its very nice

There is a wall(No. Not dravid) which contains lots of interesting facts about Sachin ![]()
P.S. Since lots of J floating around, me no talking about food or what I had there
I dont want to say that I had Aloo Paratha, Stuffed Kulcha, Cold Coffee etc and all. Ok?
Remember the Maths table we learnt in childhood. 10 * 5 = 50
Remember how we spelt it in class? I remember reciting maths table like 3 23 sir 69, 23 3 sir 69 etc.
I always used to wonder what is this sir inbetween? Maths Sir??
I know some people saying it as 3 time 23 equals 69, 23 times 3 equals 69 etc. I think thats the right way
How did you recite maths tables?
P.S. This is my 50th post on this site, and thought will post something related to Maths ![]()

It was a very different journey indeed. I took the Mandovi Express from Goa to Mumbai. The train starts from Goa by 8.30 AM in the morning and reaches Mumbai by 9.30 PM @ night. I chose this train, since I will get to see the Konkan part during the day time. No point travelling by night train ![]()

The train left Madgaon station on time, and within 2 minutes beautiful landscapes started appearing.

The train crossed this bacwaters at a speed of some 80 kmph. It was lovely.

This is how, most of the stations look on the Konkan Route
These guys have made it look as natural as possible. Looks wonderful. Fresh air and beautiful sceneries around. Almost all stations are at very nice picturesque places.

Look how neat the roads are in Goa. I was really impressed.

After crossing some countless mountains and scenic places, the train enters Maharashtra by around 11.15 AM

The train crosses so many rivers and tributaries. It was overcast and looked like any moment it will start pouring

This is somewhere before Ratnagiri. It was lush green. Fantastic!!

And then, it started raining. There were around 40 to 50 waterfalls that the train crossed. But due to rains, could not capture any of them
The waterfalls were very small and at a distance. But you cant miss it. Its amazing

The rains stopped. And the train started entering tunnels. I have been through this mumbai-pune route so many times. There are around 15 to 20 tunnels in that route. And each tunnel, maybe 400 to 600 metres long. I was thinking here also it will be the same. Believe me, I was stunned. The train entered one tunnel after ratnagiri and the length of the tunnel was around 7 km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd started screaming and whistling in joy.

And you know what? The train was racing at a speed of 80 kmph within the tunnels.

Almost all the mountains close to the railway tracks are covered with such nets. It seems the mountains are like bangalore/kolkatta cricket crowd. Very unruly. Suddenly the boulders fall on tracks and the railway service takes a hit. Hence this protection ![]()

After crossing many tunnels the train came to a halt at this station ‘Sangameshwar’. Look at the mountain behind. They have dug a tunnel of length 5.4 kms in that mountain!!!!

Once again I couldnt get to see the sunset :-L

After standing near the door for some 9 1/2 hours, I got back to my seat at around 6 PM when it got dark. I forgot to mention. There were only 30 people within the coach. It was half empty. I got a complete bay for myself
I was there for only 3 hrs in the 12 1/2 hr journey
I didnt regret it though
Konkan Railway is a good example for excellent planning and engineering. Hats off to all the people who made it possible. It was raining like anything in the middle. Only a single track, so frequent stops for crossing. And umpteen no of tunnels. Still the train reached Thane at sharp 8.53 PM. 2 minutes before time. I was amazed!!!
Folks. Do do do travel by Konkan rail atleast once during monsoon. You will never ever forget that journey in your life time.
..to be continued
P.S.Next post on Mumbai, and I will wind up with my travelogue
