Telu(n)gu

The language name is Telugu right?
Then why we Tamilians call it as Telungu? ‘Sundarath telunginil paatisaithu’

Trivia:
Reverse Te-lu-gu==>gu-lu-te=>golti or whatever they are called as :-D

  12. KV says:

Telugu is derived from the word ‘tene’ (means Honey in Telugu)

tene + gu = tenugu = telugu i.e. a language as sweet as honey.

That is why the great emporer (who was a non-telugu) Sri Krishnadeva Raya said – ‘Desa Bhashalandu Telugu lessa’ (of all the Indian languages Telugu is the best)
, and the 16-century Europeans called it ‘Italian of the East’
