Crazy Weekend

This weekend, the race was really crazy. Right from the start till the end. Yellow flags waving at the start, first turn drama, drive through penalties, tyre wear, trip over the grass. And last but not the least, Kimi’s Crash!

Someone tell Ron Dennis to kick that JPM out of McLaren. One he cant be in podium, two he screws up the race of atleast 2 drivers per race. Damn it. Schumi drove a wonderful race today and would have definitely finished much higher, if not for the incident involving JPM and Webber. Whats this guys problem?

Rubeno deserved the podium. Ferrari had a much decent outing this time. 3rd and 5th positions.

But what a tragedy for Kimi. I wont call tragedy for McLaren. I remember one race some 4 or 5 years back, when Mika Hakkinen had to retire in the last lap. I think it was in year 2000. And couple of years back, Kimi had to retire in France with some 2 laps to go because of oil leak.
And the no of no starts last year for Kimi. But why does it always happen with McLaren??
If you see, even Ferrari are having a bad season this time. But thats due to the overall performance of the car. If the car is good, they win. Else they lose. Its the same with most of the teams except McLaren. Looking at a McLaren car, no one can be sure till the driver crosses the chequered flag. Thats really bad. Reliability is the main thing. McLaren doesnt seem to have learnt from their mistakes!

Yesterday, even if Kimi hadnt crashed out, Alonso would have overtaken him. Because he was 1.4 seconds behind and closing the gap pretty fast. But Kimi lost those 8 valuable points. I think it would have been good for viewers if Alonso had overtaken Kimi rather than, Kimi crashing out.

Only good thing as Steve Slater(Star Sports commentary) said was, Kimi is safe and will drive the next race!

And watchout folks. Ferrari are getting better and better. They are not in a great position to win the championship, but they will never make life easier for others. Watch out!

UPDATE: Nick Heidfield seems to be a good signing for Williams. Second cosecutive podium. He did drive a wonderful race. Missed this out! Thanks to Jacky for pointing it out :-)

dude…kimi’s tyres were wearing out fast and they finally gave way in the last lap…so it would not be fair to say he crashed out! he was slowing down every lap simply because it is difficult to control a car with tyres giving way….it was a miracle that he could even drag the car till the last lap!

  2. Hey!

Even Alonso’s tyres were wearing out! You saw the way, Kimis car was vibrating in the last few laps? Still Kimi was doing some 300 KPH!
Renaults car seems to be handling tyre wear than McLaren!!

  3. Jacky says:

Hey!! Say something about Nick Heidfeld. He’s got a few praises from Frank Williams but nothing yet from you :)

  4. Thanks Jacky. Updated :-)

  5. Sebastian says:

I would not blame McLaren for the tyre wear. Kimi flat spotted his tyre trying to overtake JV, and the vibrations and Tyre wear was a result of that. Kimi is fast and Mclaren are good they just need a little more luck.

Heartbreak for Kimi and McLaren fans :(
    How many times, Ron??

And I would say that Alonso was lucky coz his tyres were also battered..sandhula sindhu paadittaru ;)

And the luckiest of all..guess who .. was Jenson Button.. Kimi’s McLaren missed his by a whisker..guess wat his reaction wud hav been on seeing the crash on his rear view mirror..

Disappointing race for Mark Webber..He was in for another podium with Williams coming strong and good..

Schumi..I dont know.. if this was good enough.. coz Massa had him trailing for long bfore his sure shot pit strategy saw him thro!

Great race but..Drama all the way..

  7. Sebastian,

Kimi is good and wonderful. Remember Imola? Kimi had to retire then as well. Look at Renault. Has Alonso retired in any race?

McLaren car is good. But still it is not completely relaibale mate!

  8. Arun,

Thanks for reminding me about the cheating Japs. Guess BAR Honda are struggling after losing that secret fuel tank :-P

  9. sathish says:

Alonso is definitely better driver this season. Schumi was always favored by car + Barrichello.
Barichello has openly said in an interview that schumi cannot expect any more favors from him. last year barichello always helped schumi to reach the podium.

  10. Sathish,

Alonso is driving well this season. And Schumi is one driver who can win even if the car is not too good. He demonstarted that many many times. And there are very very very very minimal races in which he won with help of rubens :-)

  11. Rajesh says:

Dont forget Prabhu that the races that rubens helped Schumi were crucial races!! I think that Schumi shouldnt have been harsh with rubens. “I am here to run a race not take a cup of coffee!!!” – Schumi on ruben’s accusing in overtaking him at Monaco

  12. Arjun says:

    hi.. happened to read it…

couldnt resist replyin… The Crash of Kimi was coz of a grave mistake Kimi did.. no one else is to be blamed here. He hit the tyre hard on something while passing JV.. and the team decided against bringing him in to aviond losing the podium finish. So it is Kimi to be blamed.. but at break neck speed… even he is allowed to do mistakes..
